The Pocket, a band of Chicago veteran musicians that

Thrill to the scorching riffs of harp player Dave Rix, 

feel the funk of blue eyed soul bassist Rick Demski, 

stick your feet in the mud of the Delta swamps of 

slide guitarist Chuck Wasserburg, drop your jaw at the 

technical expertise of guitarist Joe DiFrancesco, 

and just when you think you’ve reached the brink, 

drummer Ron Schur pushes you over the edge with a

beat so intense your teeth will rattle and your

bones will shake!

The purpose of the site is to provide information on all aspects of LIVE MUSIC in Chicago by keeping the Chicago Studio Club (CSC) free and unencumbered to all. Of course if you find we’ve done something you like gratuities are accepted. Just click on the DONATION button on the site(s) and proceed to give whatever is within your means.

Tracey & Fred (founding survivors) have thus far held the front with only the help of a few, to be named in the thanks part, but for now we could use help with a forum (monitors) and volunteer lists as well as project implementers. Drop us a line. Is there a club you would like to see and hear some of Chicago’s most deserving talents? Who would you like to hear play? Even if you don’t drive a truck or want to help set up and tear down, you are a member if you love to party with LIVE MUSIC.

If you think good music in a comfortable but unpretentious room sounds like fun, let us know. If you want good music in a pretentious setting we can help there as well.   If you are ON Harlem Avenue, facing OGDEN AVENUE, this would be your view. The address for Harlem Avenue Lounge is 3701 S. Harlem Ave., Berwyn, IL. That White Castle you see there is ON the actual corner of Harlem & Ogden, and its parking lot/drive-thru are next to an alley between it and Harlem Avenue Lounge. You can turn into this alley and there are a couple of spaces to park in, but only a couple, right there on the side of the alley-next to the guard rail dividing White Castle from the alley. The only reason we say this is because we did all of this & just want to help. Easiest just to turn around (no parking behind the lounge) (which is where you ENTER to get inside) and back out of the alley as there is PLENTY of street parking RIGHT ON Harlem Avenue. FOR FREE!

Here you are on Harlem Avenue – right on the alley, walk a ways down the alley to the back entrance.

 See the back door in the above photo, there is the chair where a very nice fellow named Dave was sitting. The bathrooms are by the back door. Next, the pool table / game area.

     Next is the bar and at the front of the bar, the stage! We went on a Friday night to see the J.B. Ritchie Power Trio. The owner Ken was there working away with his bartendress for the evening, Angie! Everyone was so  nice – we had a blast!

Penny Road is a total rock club with two stages: The Main Stage & The Underground. We will be playing the Underground Stage. This is where the original rock indie bands like us perform. There is a cover that gets you in the club for the whole night but please mention at door that you are here to see The Rick Weeds Band. If we have a good turnout we could get a Saturday show with better time slot.  Come on out & have a good time & meet the band & enjoy some music. They serve food & also have a beer garden where you can smoke. We will be performing the album “It’s True” in its entirety.

From Chicago area: (approx. 40-50 min. from Chicago) From Chicago take I-90 (NW tollway) West to the Route 59 exit & go North.

Go thru 2 lights (about a mile) to Penny Road & turn left. Next intersection you’re there (corner of Sutton/Penny Rds).
