According to SouthofDisorderBand ‘s website: "Jeff is a Cuban immigrant by way of Mexico.  As a youngster in the streets of Havana, he discovered he could make more money playing his trumpet on street corners than he could picking the pockets of tourists.  As a teen he stowed away inside of a tractor tire and made the treacherous sea journey to Cozumel, where he was quickly employed as a houseboy for one of the island’s finer poodle groomers.  Two years later he escaped and hitchhiked to Orlando, where he played trumpet in the Disney World production of Blow It Out Your A**.  He had enough when management demanded that he play the trumpet through the backside of his Donald Duck costume.
Abandoning the sun, the humidity and the long arm of the Disney legal department, Jeff moved to the land of ice and snow–Chicago.  The adjustment to the drastic change in climate caused Jeff to briefly lose his pucker.  Today, you’ll find him anchoring the second line of the South of Disorder band.  What’s the second line?  The line that didn’t make it to the bar first." Jeff plays with the band regularly.

It was unseasonably cold and due to circumstances beyond our control we arrived after the Bobby Lewis Sextet had already started. However, the music warmed us up so much that we just stayed in our "car clothes"! We DANCED too and that helped. There was a wild half moon directly above which kept us all in a surreal state which originated from the fantastic LIVE JAZZ on stage!

Shirazette Tinnin has a Bachelor’s degree in music industry studies and performance from Appalachian State University. She has a Masters (in jazz studies) degree from NIU. She is a member of the graduate-level Liberace Jazztet. Shirazette had a student internship in 2002 at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops Orchestra and Quad Recording Studios. Shirazette has performed with a number of major artists, including Arturo Sandoval, Slide Hampton, Chris Vadala, and Melva Houston and Shirazette was a counselor and instructor at the 2006 NIU Jazz Camp.

Front and center on the stage at the new location of his home base for music and more, Lawrence "P Funk" Barksdale on lead guitar. He is THE man in Lawrence’s Studio and Lounge, newly located at 6012 Madison, Cincinnati, Ohio. We were absolutely thrilled to meet him when his band, Secret Sprits, had their GRAND OPENING JAM on Sat., August 15, 2009. This band is going places. Their new studio has unlimited potential in many areas of the music industry and also in the Cincinnati Ohio community. Lawrence has an array of fantastic ideas that you will soon be hearing about. Stay tuned!

  If you are ON Harlem Avenue, facing OGDEN AVENUE, this would be your view. The address for Harlem Avenue Lounge is 3701 S. Harlem Ave., Berwyn, IL. That White Castle you see there is ON the actual corner of Harlem & Ogden, and its parking lot/drive-thru are next to an alley between it and Harlem Avenue Lounge. You can turn into this alley and there are a couple of spaces to park in, but only a couple, right there on the side of the alley-next to the guard rail dividing White Castle from the alley. The only reason we say this is because we did all of this & just want to help. Easiest just to turn around (no parking behind the lounge) (which is where you ENTER to get inside) and back out of the alley as there is PLENTY of street parking RIGHT ON Harlem Avenue. FOR FREE!

Here you are on Harlem Avenue – right on the alley, walk a ways down the alley to the back entrance.

 See the back door in the above photo, there is the chair where a very nice fellow named Dave was sitting. The bathrooms are by the back door. Next, the pool table / game area.

     Next is the bar and at the front of the bar, the stage! We went on a Friday night to see the J.B. Ritchie Power Trio. The owner Ken was there working away with his bartendress for the evening, Angie! Everyone was so  nice – we had a blast!

We met Greg Haar for the first time last night and he is such a great guy. He says he isn’t techno-savvy but he has 2 daughters to help along with all of this internet type action  – - so kudos girls! Show this to your dad! Also we learned that Greg makes these wild tie-dyed shirts on his own!  He told me the entire procedure which I was delighted to hear about since I have never done it myself.  So in addition to being a talented drummer in the J.B.Ritchie Power Trio, he is a creative man, a tolerant father and appreciates the likes of the Chicago Studio Club!

On this night Phil Gratteau was on drums, Jim Cox on bass

& Maurice Spiccia on piano. 

She dedicated this song to her folks, saying it was their special song,

which caused the entire audience to collectively sigh & say "Aww".

Penny Road is a total rock club with two stages: The Main Stage & The Underground. We will be playing the Underground Stage. This is where the original rock indie bands like us perform. There is a cover that gets you in the club for the whole night but please mention at door that you are here to see The Rick Weeds Band. If we have a good turnout we could get a Saturday show with better time slot.  Come on out & have a good time & meet the band & enjoy some music. They serve food & also have a beer garden where you can smoke. We will be performing the album “It’s True” in its entirety.

From Chicago area: (approx. 40-50 min. from Chicago) From Chicago take I-90 (NW tollway) West to the Route 59 exit & go North.
