BMR4 has been described as "a straight ahead jazz quartet from Chicago that incorporates blues, funk, Cajun, Latin, soul-jazz, and R&B into their act." The quartet features acoustic bassist CHRIS BERNHARDT, JAY MOYNIHAN on reeds and keyboard, MIKE RODBARD on drums, and NEAL ALGER on guitar. Neil Tesser wrote of BMR4 that it "plays a lot of songs rooted in blues and R & B. Music by James Brown jostles up against familiar tunes from Steely Dan or the Beatles; up-tempo modal jazz tunes from the 60s share space with moody, atmospheric pieces straight out of a movie soundtrack; and [it all includes] the infectious groove of John Scofield’s music. "

General admission:  $10 and $5 for students with ID’s and children accompanied by adults.

The lovely L26 Restaurant is in the South Loop Hotel, located at 26th & State. There is free parking in the hotel lot just west of the building on 26th and plenty of on street, unmetered spaces. Since L26 is smaller than Room 43, you may want to get there a little early for good seats. A dinner menu is available (as well as light fare), and drink prices have been reduced for the Hyde Park Jazz Society audience. Be sure to ask for the HPJazz Society prices.

in the foyer of the Jazz Showcase. As you can see, THAT’S WHERE I FOUND Ken.  At first, I thought he was the guy in the photo behind him (Wayne Segal)! Turns out he is the  Director of Marketing and Fundraising  at WDCB Public Radio.  He  is well known and also well respected  in the jazz world. You can hear this in Barry Winograd’s thank you to Ken Scott at the end of this video.
