and if you still have questions, get word to us via email: chicagostudioclub@msn.com. Fred and Tracey will be unable to provide the hands on development and participation of the Open Mic and the Jam, that were formerly at the Dunn Inn, 3456 N. Pulaski. We had some great times!

So, as of this report, Mick Scott will still handle the CSC Open Mic, now at The ATLANTIC Bar & Grill, 5062 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, IL. (773) 506 -  7090.

Fred and/or Tracey will be there when possible. As for the PRO JAM, we have the back (music) room at The Atlantic, most of a set of drums (on loan from JOE DUNN-need hi hat, stand, cymbals & throne) and on keyboards, Mick Archer or Paul Coscino. So jammers, the night will be what you make of it! Please post your intentions to participate on the Facebook or email us. There will be no steady house band, but Mick Archer (keyboards) will provide the keys & PA for vocals. So bring your axes and amps, the jam is on!

Norm loves folk music & performs many songs by his friends, Steve Goodman & Tom Dundee.

Norm brought his laptop when he filled in at the last minute (Thanks Norm!) for Mick Scott as the Chicago Studio Club Tuesday night open mike host.

As you can see, he kindly displayed a photo of Mick from one of our sites, so that Mick was "there" with us. What a nice man that Norm!

Norman "Norm" Siegel is a guitarist, vocalist & man about town… that town being Sweet Home Chicago of course (MY kind of town!).

Hidden way behind a dark window on a quiet block on North Halsted. There is a space that blurs the boundaries between your regular Lincoln-park bar and a mellow fire-lit speak easy. It’s a place that presents both the excitement of large crowds and live hip-hop, and the anonymity of a cool whining darkness. The bar is lined with antique bottles from the turn of the century. Tonics, they were called, for their supposed abilities to counter any ailment. The look and style is indefinite. The soft blocks of leather sofa are a jigsaw puzzle, each night bearing new ways to interlock with themselves. The space has no set identity. It is to each guest, what he chooses to see. It is to each guest what she chooses to be. The Tonic Room, it is called, for its universal ability to adapt.

The Tonic Room offers the best in Chicago Open Mike entertainment. Every Monday @ 10:00 pm (sign up @ 9:00 pm), the Tonic Room opens it’s doors to all acoustic artists in Chicago that would like to sign up for our Open Mike. They provide a top of the line P.A., microphones, cables, and even a guitar. All you need to do is bring your good spirits and voice. Their open mike focuses on every type of performer. Whether you are into rap, comedy, rock, or just want to get up on stage, the Tonic Room open mike provides a place for you to perform. Their open mike host, Dan the Man, is there to run the show, mix, and can even perform with you if you need an extra musician.

The weekly finalists then go on to compete in the Talent Search Finals, March 29th, 2010. The finals offer a 2nd opportunity to win greater cash prizes ($500-winner, $100-runner up), acclaim and potential booking opportunities.

This search is open to a wide range of Live music genres
-Rock Reggae Blues Jazz Funk Folk Soul and more; due to space and sound system limitations, no hard rock please.

Joanna Woods, their fabulous host, will be your point of contact should you decide to submit for consideration in the Talent Search, contact her at: alaspoormouse@hotmail.com  with the following information:

  1. Band/Artist name, contact info,(include contact number to touch base day before show) 
  2. Bio/description of your musical stylings (200 word max)
  3. The exact number of performers, instrumentation and backline requests

Things to know:

Backline: An 8 channel PA (mics and stands provided)
Bass amp
House piano
And kit (band brings: kick, snare and symbols)

There is a shortage of gear space so utilize the house gear

Load in at least one-hour prior to scheduled time slot or risk forfeiting.

The set time is 20 minutes with the need for FAST setup/breakdown, no more than 10 minutes or it deducts from set time.
